Ruth McKeaney, Author and Homemaker, on Generosity of the Home and Family

You may want your home to be a place where people feel deeply welcomed, while also feeling the pressure to make hospitality polished, impressive, or perfectly planned.

What if generous hospitality has less to do with the size or appearance of your home and more to do with intentionally loving the people God places around you?

Meet your guide

Ruth McKeaney is the author of Hungry for Home and host of At Home with Ruth McKeaney on Homeworthy. After a successful law career, Ruth followed an unexpected path into renovating and flipping homes with her husband while raising five children. Her own upbringing, shaped by a strong Christ-centered family culture and a legacy of evangelism and missions, taught her that a home is ultimately defined by the people within it, not the building itself.

In this conversation, Ruth explores how hospitality can become an everyday expression of generosity rather than a performance. She shares practical ways to create an intentional family culture, involve children in welcoming others, establish meaningful traditions, and keep opening your home even when life feels inconvenient. She also reflects on finding identity in Christ through changing seasons of work, parenting, and purpose.

By the end, you may see your home less as something that needs to be perfected and more as a resource God has already given you for loving people well.
