Peter Greer is the president and CEO of HOPE International, a Christ-centered microfinance organization serving entrepreneurs and families facing poverty around the world. Through microloans, savings groups, business training, and discipleship, HOPE helps people use their own gifts and abilities to provide for their families and strengthen their communities. Peter is also the coauthor of books including Mission Drift and Created to Flourish.

In this conversation, Peter challenges common assumptions about poverty and generosity. He explains why a person’s financial circumstances say far less about their capacity than we may assume, and how sustainable development can preserve dignity by empowering people rather than creating dependence.
